I became a photographer because of the power of an image to capture memories. Fleeting memories that can easily fade over time forever captured on film. The power of an image to evoke emotion. And to show my vision, my way of seeing life, to the world.
My godparents gave me my first camera when I was in the first grade. It was a Kodak Ektralite 110 camera. I used to run around taking pictures of everything – trees, rocks, creeks, flowers – whatever. I loved it. Eventually, the Ektralite got traded in for an Olympus point & shoot, and later, in college, a Pentax K1000. And it was that camera that officially launched my career in photography.
After graduating with a degree in photography, I embarked on a career in fine art photography, exhibiting my work in various galleries in the Washington, DC area. A few years later, I photographed my first wedding, and by the end of the day, just knew this was what I was meant to do. Seven years later, I am still at it. Over the course of those years, my studio has expanded to include maternity, baby and children’s photography.
Photography is my life … my passion … my calling ….
